We drove to Deurne. Here's the story.
So someone ordered a custom Vedoir watch not for themselves, but as a gift for René van der Zel. When we heard who it was for, we figured we weren't going to just ship this one. No. We're driving it there ourselves.
We loaded up the car, set the GPS to Deurne, and headed for the headquarters. If you've never been, it's one of those places where you pull up and immediately think: "Yeah, these people know what they're doing." Clean, professional, no-nonsense. The kind of environment where things get done.
We walked in with the watch box, met the team, and got introduced to René. Now here's the thing about gifting a custom watch to someone — you never really know how they'll react. Some people are polite about it. Some people are surprised. René was genuinely into it. He opened the box, looked at the details, put it on, and you could tell it clicked. It wasn't just a nice watch to him. It was the thought behind it. Someone in his network took the time to have something made specifically for him. That hits different than a gift card.
And honestly, that's the whole point of what we do at Vedoir.
Let's talk about that for a second. Because this visit reminded us why custom watches work so well in a business context.
Everyone talks about branding. Logos on pens. Company names on mugs. Branded hoodies that end up in the back of a closet. It's all fine. But none of it makes someone stop and think about your company at 2pm on a Tuesday. A watch does. A watch is on your wrist every single day. Every time you check the time, every meeting, every handshake — it's there. And when someone asks about it, the story comes out. "This was a gift from a business partner." That's not branding in the traditional sense. That's something better. That's a relationship made tangible.
The person who ordered this watch for René understood that. They weren't trying to close a deal or ask for something in return. They were saying: "I value this relationship enough to put thought into it." And that's the kind of gesture people don't forget.
We see this over and over again. The companies that invest in their business relationships — not with volume, but with intention are the ones that keep those relationships for years. A custom watch isn't a marketing expense. It's a relationship investment. And the ROI isn't measured in clicks or impressions. It's measured in trust, loyalty, and the kind of goodwill that doesn't show up on a spreadsheet but absolutely shows up in how people do business with you.
Anyway. Back to Deurne.
We chatted for a bit, took a picture together, and headed out. No big production. No cameras rolling. Just a good delivery, a solid handshake, and the satisfaction of seeing someone genuinely appreciate what landed on their wrist.
That's a good day at Vedoir.
If you're thinking about how to strengthen your business relationships or if you just want to give someone a gift they'll actually wear we should talk. No catalogue. No standard options. Just a conversation about what would work best.
Drive to Deurne not included. But we might make an exception.
